Fine wine, magnificent
views and luscious fruit are what you can expect from the Clyde ParkVineyard. Set on the truly unique hills surrounding the Moorabool River, 30
kilometres north of Geelong, Victoria, places Clyde Park at the forefront of
cool climate viticulture.
The property was
established in 1979 with small plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Further plantings have increased the holding to thirty-five acres under
vine, expanding the existing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, adding the varieties
of Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. Our Pinot Noir consists of seven
different clones originating from Switzerland, California, France and
Australia.
The site consists of
undulating north-easterly slopes. The soil varies from silt/clay to sand
loam with basalt over a limestone base. Plantings on our north-easterly
slopes provide maximum exposure to sunlight, whilst the river flat area
offers warmth and wind protection. Viticulturally the site produces premium
fruit of low yields. This, combined with expert cool climate wine making
techniques, produces wines of great complexity, exemplifying a perfect
balance of acids and fruit.
