Clyde Park Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Sauvignon Blanc 2006

Clyde Park Vineyard was established in 1979 when Chardonnay was planted on the property. Further plantings since have increased the vineyard to 35 acres, expanding the Chardonnay and adding Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. In all we have 7 clones of Pinot Noir, 6 clones of Chardonnay, 2 clones of Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc and a sole clone of Pinot Gris. The site consists of undulating north easterly slopes. The soil varies from silt/clay to sandy loam with basalt over a limestone base. Plantings on our north easterly slope provide exposure to sunlight, whilst the river flat area offers warmth and wind protection. Viticulturally the site produces premium fruit of low yields producing balanced wines of great purity, complexity and finesse. Typically our Sauvignon Blanc is hand picked, destemmed and pressed for fermentation in stainless steel tanks utilising neutral packaged yeast. A small portion may complete fermentation in old French oak. Fermentation is maintained between 12 - 18 degrees. The wine is blended and prepared for bottling early to maintain freshness and vivacity.
